Instituto Superior Miguel Torga hosted an event dedicated to the theme "Social Work in Health and Rehabilitation", bringing together perspectives from Brazil, Germany, and Portugal.
On the 9th of October 2026, Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) organised an International Colloquium as part of the World Mental Health Day observance. Under the theme "Social Work in Health and Rehabilitation - Brazil, Germany and Portugal: experiences and challenges", the event took place at the ISMT campus in Coimbra. The initiative fostered the analysis of Social Work practices in different international contexts.
Throughout the afternoon, participants engaged in the sharing of experiences and the debate of ideas regarding the dynamics of mental health and rehabilitation. The programme allowed for a comparative analysis of the methodologies applied in Brazil, Germany, and Portugal. The discussion focused on the challenges faced by professionals in these fields, providing a space for reflection on social intervention within the health sector.
The session was attended by sector professionals, teaching staff, and the student community. This gathering reinforced the reflection on Social Work, integrating the analysis of international approaches into the academic journey of ISMT students.
