The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) hosted Paulo Pereira, Social Worker and Director of the AMI – Coimbra Porta Amiga Centre, on October 27th, for a lecture on the migratory issue. The event was titled “The reality of the migratory issue: how can/should Social Work intervene?”.

The initiative was part of the Social Studies Seminar I curricular unit of the Social Work Degree, coordinated by professors Manuel Menezes and Noémia Cunha. The main goal of the lecture was to stimulate critical reflection on the contemporary challenges of migration in Portugal.

The session also allowed for a deeper exploration of Social Work's role in direct intervention with people and communities who are in vulnerable situations. This activity is aligned with ISMT's commitment to providing its students with contact with professional realities and crucial topics on the social agenda.
