The Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT) took part in the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Portuguese Association of Private and Cooperative Higher Education (APESP), which took place on 19 November 2024 at the emblematic Lisbon Geographical Society.

The ISMT delegation was made up of Humberto Oliveira, Vice-President, Isa Magalhães, Secretary of the Board of Directors, Rui Morais, President of the ISMT Students‘ Association, and Mafalda Gameiro, Vice-President of the ISMT Students’ Association.

The event's programme stood out for its relevance and wealth of content for the higher education sector. Among the highlights was the lecture by Professor S. P. Kothari, from MIT's Sloan School of Management, who gave a global and innovative view of the challenges and opportunities in higher education.

This was followed by an enriching debate with leading figures in the field of higher education, emphasising the importance of collaboration and innovation in the sector. The event also included the launch of the APESP Observatory, an initiative that promises to bring a new perspective on private and co-operative higher education in Portugal.

The celebrations were closed by the Minister of Education, who stressed the importance of this milestone in APESP's history for the future of higher education in Portugal, recognising the fundamental role of private and cooperative institutions in the country's educational development.
