An informative session brought together teachers and specialists to analyse assessment and inclusion strategies within the context of autism

The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT), in partnership with APPACDM Coimbra, held on April 28th the second session of the conversation cycle “Let’s talk about…”. This initiative is dedicated to demystifying disability and presenting existing social responses, reinforcing the institutions' commitment to sharing scientific knowledge and social responsibility.

The session, focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder, featured Mariana Monteiro, a student of the Master's in Clinical Psychology at ISMT, who presented the topic "Autism in practice: Assessment, intervention, and challenges". Her intervention focused on current diagnostic methodologies and the importance of a clinical approach tailored to individual needs.

Representing APPDA Coimbra, the event also included contributions from Tânia Morais, teacher and psychologist, and Miguel Castelo Branco, teacher and director of the aforementioned association. Miguel Castelo Branco, who has an extensive international background in institutions in Germany and the Netherlands, currently serving as the coordinator of IBILI and director of ICNAS, discussed transforming challenges into opportunities. The debate provided a comprehensive view of the role of neurosciences and social responses in integration and family support.
