The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga will promote on March 14, 2024 at 6:15 pm the 3rd Conference of the 1st Cycle of Conferences of its new Postgraduate Course in Research and Security Against Catastrophes, Crises and Accidents, whose title is “Disaster Diplomacy during wars and the safety of transport aircraft.”
The Guest Speaker is Agostinho Costa, Specialist in security matters, Former Vice-President of the EuroDefense-Portugal Study Center and Former Chief of Staff of the European Rapid Operational Force (EUROFOR).

The opening of the Conference will feature Luís Marinho, President of ISMT, the moderation will be by Noémia Salgado Cunha, Postgraduate Scientific Coordinator and comments will be made by Paulo Palrilha, Postgraduate Professor in Surveys, Inspection Actions and Inspections .

Augustine Costa
Major-General Agostinho Costa is currently a specialist in security matters, with commentary on a television channel. He was Vice-President of the EuroDefense-Portugal Study Center and Chief of Staff of the European Rapid Operational Force (EUROFOR). Among other prestigious roles, in the rank of Colonel he was Commander of the Parachute Troops School, Head of the Planning and Programming Office of the Institute of Higher Military Studies. While as a General Officer he was Commander of the National Republican Guard School and Second General Commander of this Security Force. He held important positions internationally. UN Military Observer in the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, Operations Officer of the General Staff of the 3rd Italian Division/Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, Chief of the Operations Division of the General Staff of the Multinational Brigade West, after the Kosovo conflict. During his long career, he was honored with numerous commendations and decorations from Portugal, Spain, Italy, the UN and NATO.

The new Postgraduate Course in Research and Safety Against Catastrophes, Crises and Accidents at Instituto Superior Miguel Torga provides future experts with the necessary scientific and technical knowledge and skills, supported by the best multidisciplinary and multi-institutional safety and research practices, which give them allow all security and incident investigation procedures to be carried out effectively and appropriately, such as those set out in the course presentation, visible on the ISMT website.
