The Miguel Torga Higher Education Institute (ISMT) has unveiled the Coimbra School, a new department dedicated to developing short courses, postgraduate degrees, and MBAs, aiming to directly meet the training needs of local authorities, companies, and social sector institutions.

According to the board's president, Manuel Castelo Branco, the new structure represents "a differentiating initiative," already offering approximately 40 short courses and 12 postgraduate degrees, in addition to two MBAs designed for administrators and executives. The creation of this offering was preceded by meetings with municipalities and entities of the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region (CIMRC), which owns ISMT, as well as with private social welfare institutions (IPSS) and local associations.

The training areas cover sectors such as psychology, communication, administration, information technology, and law, and the courses can be taken in the territories that request them. The coordinator of the Coimbra School, Sara Lopes Borges, emphasized that the catalog is dynamic and can be expanded whenever new needs arise.

Investment in short courses will be adjusted to each project, while postgraduate programs have an average cost of R$1,500. According to local CIMRC authorities, the institution intends only to cover operational costs, channeling revenue to training outside the intermunicipal community.

Manuel Castelo Branco emphasized that the goal is not to replicate existing market offerings, but rather to focus on specialized niches.
