On 4th December, the Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT) attended the 60th Anniversary Commemorative Session of the Coimbra Alcohology Unit (UAC), celebrating a collaboration that reinforces the commitment to health and training excellence.
ISMT was represented at the event by Vice-President Humberto Oliveira, lecturers Bruno Cordeiro, Frederico Fonseca and Noémia Cunha, students Maria Arrifano and Ângela Antunes, trainees on the Master's programme in Clinical Psychology, and employee Fátima Monteiro.
ISMT's participation was twofold, highlighting the institution's impact in different areas:
Preserving the Legacy of Dr Maria Lucília Mercês de Mello
The ISMT collaborated in the production of the documentary/interview ‘Excerpts from the life of an alcoholic’, which consists of the digital preservation of the valuable legacy of Dr Maria Lucília Mercês de Mello, a remarkable figure in the history of the UAC. This work was widely praised during the session, highlighting the ‘high quality, commitment and availability’ shown by the ISMT team.
Professor Frederico Fonseca represented the coordination of the Multimedia degree programme, which was involved in the production of the documentary, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between different areas of knowledge.
Support for ISMT Students' Curricular Internships
ISMT's participation also highlighted the long-standing partnership between ISMT's Internship Office, represented by Bruno Cordeiro and Fátima Monteiro, and the UAC, which has provided students with unique opportunities for practical training.
This collaboration has contributed significantly to the students' training, providing them with valuable practical experience and consolidating the relationship between ISMT and UAC, which share common goals of progress and social impact.
ISMT's participation in the celebration of the UAC's 60th anniversary reflects the institution's strong commitment to academic development, the preservation of institutional memory and the valorisation of inter-institutional partnerships.
