ISMT takes part in debate on active ageing plans in the Coimbra region
The event, held at the Poiares Cultural Centre, was attended by representatives of the 19 municipalities of the CIM-RC, partner organisations such as the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, the School of Guide Dogs/Combat Loneliness and the Territorial Command of the GNR. The Miguel Torga Higher Institute (ISMT) was also present, represented by Vice-President Dulce Simões and lecturers Laura Lemos and Fernanda Daniel, reaffirming its role as a strategic partner with significant contributions in the areas of teaching and research.
During the session, the implementation stages of the inter-municipal action plans were discussed, which include the testing of active and healthy ageing indicators proposed by the United Nations, to be applied by 2026. This pilot project aims to transform the Region of Coimbra into a model for evaluating best practices in this area.
The meeting emphasised the importance of inter-municipal and institutional synergies in promoting dignified and active ageing, reaffirming the CIM's commitment to sustainable development and social inclusion.
