In early August, the Miguel Torga Higher Education Institute (ISMT) received a working visit from the Coimbra City Council (CMC), represented by President José Manuel Silva and Chief of Staff Nélson Cruz. The delegation was welcomed by ISMT President Manuel Castelo Branco, accompanied by Vice-Presidents Dulce Simões and Humberto Oliveira, and Secretary of the Board Isa Magalhães.

The meeting focused primarily on recognizing the strategic importance of ISMT in the city and region, reaffirming the Cuiabá City Hall's commitment to supporting the institution's role as an agent of training, research, and regional development. Among the topics discussed, the feasibility of modernizing ISMT's new facilities was also highlighted, as they are essential for strengthening the quality of teaching and scientific research.

This visit is part of a period of strong institutional momentum for ISMT, marked by:

A consistent effort to open up to the city and the region, consolidated through multiple protocols and partnerships with local and regional entities;

The vitality of ISMT's programs, which respond to the current needs of the job market;

The launch of the Coimbra School, the newest department dedicated to postgraduate programs, MBAs, and short courses, reinforcing the diversification of educational offerings;

A strategic communications plan that has increased the visibility of the work carried out both inside and outside the institution.

For Manuel Castelo Branco, President of the Miguel Torga Higher Education Institute, "this visit symbolizes the recognition of decades of academic and social work by ISMT. We thank the Coimbra City Council, represented by its President, for their demonstrated support and commitment to working with us to promote Coimbra as a university city of excellence."

The Mayor of Coimbra, José Manuel Silva, emphasized that "ISMT is an essential pillar of the city's academic and cultural ecosystem. The City of Coimbra will continue to support the development and modernization of this institution, which is a benchmark for education and growth in the region."

Nearly a century old, ISMT remains a higher education institution that combines tradition and innovation, establishing itself as a strategic partner in the academic, cultural, and social development of Coimbra and its surrounding region.
