The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) hosted a lecture today, October 30th, focusing on the future of social intervention and the impact of territorial dynamics. The event, titled "From the social network to decentralisation: people and territory", was organised within the scope of the Degree in Social Work and the curricular unit of Social Work, Social Security and Local Governance.
The initiative brought together the academic community for an in-depth debate on the relevance of coordinating the social network with decentralisation processes for optimising public policies and effective community development.
The lecture featured the participation of Ana Filipa Soledade, Head of the Social Development and Health Division at Leiria City Council, and Marta Henriques de Matos, Social Worker and NLI Coordinator at the same municipality. The speakers shared their expertise and practical examples, illustrating how networking and decentralisation shape the lives of populations and strengthen territorial cohesion, offering essential insights for future Social Work professionals.
The session took place in Room 3 of the Rua Bernardo Albuquerque, 4 Building. This activity, organised by lecturer Manuel Menezes, reinforces ISMT's commitment to up-to-date training and a direct connection to the challenges of Local Governance.
