ISMT and APPACDM Coimbra host session on Intellectual Disability

The Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT), in collaboration with APPACDM Coimbra, is organising a session entitled “Let’s talk about…”, dedicated to the theme of Intellectual Disability. The event will take place on 14 April, at 17h30, in Room 2 of the Rua Gomes Freire Building, and is open to the entire academic community.

This initiative stems from the cooperation protocol signed between ISMT and APPACDM Coimbra on 3 March. The central focus of the session is the debate surrounding intellectual disability, seeking to clarify the concept and identify the social responses currently available within the national context. The action aims to provide students, staff, and other interested parties with a technical insight into the challenges faced by organisations and families.

The session will feature participants from APPACDM Coimbra, including Helena Albuquerque, president of the institution. This meeting reinforces ISMT's commitment to civic education and its connection with community institutions, promoting understanding of the value of difference and the importance of social inclusion in Portugal.
