ISMT hosts "Strategy and Leadership" seminar with Mário Barreiros

On the 18th of December, at 14:00, the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) will host the seminar titled "Strategy and Leadership - To be overtaken, you don't need to stop. You just have to keep the same speed.". The event, which will take place in Room 2 of Polo D (Rua Augusta), is organised by lecturer Célia Santos, within the scope of the Strategic Management course unit of the degrees in Human Resources Management and Management & Entrepreneurship.

The session will feature Mário Barreiros, current Industrial Director at Iber-Oleff, where he leads a multidisciplinary team of over 400 people. With a 32-year career in the automotive industry, the guest speaker will share his extensive experience in management and direction, both in national and international contexts. His academic background in Mechanical Engineering has been complemented by continuous specialisation in management and production methodologies, including training from the Japan Kaizen Institute, General Motors, and Toyota, as well as in Leadership, Ethics, and ESG areas.

The seminar will address the importance of continuous evolution in a competitive market, reflecting the event's motto. Mário Barreiros will also provide perspective on the implementation of strategic and operational plans, such as the decarbonisation project he is currently heading. His career path, also marked by his title as a national fencing champion, will serve as a basis for discussing how tactical discipline and continuous training are essential to face contemporary organisational challenges.
