On 29 November, ISMT hosted an open class on ‘Challenges to the social integration of people who are or have been in conflict with the law: the case of detention houses’, with the special participation of Prof. Marco Henriques. The event, part of the training programme for 2nd year Social Work students, represented a significant opportunity to debate a central issue in public policy in Portugal.

The class was organised as part of the Social Service Justice and Social Reintegration curricular unit, taught by Prof. Maria Rosa Tomé, and provided a space for reflection on the challenges and opportunities of prison policy and the social reintegration of people in situations of imprisonment. The discussion emphasised the importance of the role of social work in promoting processes of inclusion and citizenship.

This initiative reflects ISMT's commitment to contributing to the training of professionals who are attentive to social issues and capable of facing contemporary challenges. Through activities like this, ISMT reinforces its role as a higher education institution committed to promoting critical reflection and addressing issues that are relevant to society.
