Learning Outcomes

Understanding of the theoretical and methodological foundations of Social Administration. Understanding and analysis of the nature and field of expertise of Social Administration. Analysis of the implications of tertiarization of the economy and society in terms of entities providing services. Analysis of social administration as a promoter of quality within the organization. Acquisition of key concepts inherent in the management of social equipment and the organization of social services and facilities - concepts and models of intervention. Basic skills training for professional performance within organizations.

Part II - The Tertiarization of Economy and Society
1. Social services with regard to relations between the State and Civil Society.
2. Institutions of Services; Departments Services - typology, characterization and management.
3. The administration of services institutions - proposals according to Peter Drucker.

Part III - The Social Management: goals, approaches and intervention models
1. The Social Management: Objectives, procedures and the main techniques used.
2. The management applied to Social Services: 
2.1. Theory (s) management and social work; 
2.2. Steps in the management of Social Services; 
2.3. Skills, participation and performance of social work in terms of social management.
3. The model of systemic administration of social services, according to
4. Jules Perron: its philosophy, features and phases of the process of the administration of social services.

Part IV - Current Issues of Administration and Management of Social Services
1. Strategies administration / management of social services:
1.1. Processes of decentralization: typologies; and potential impact on social action.
1.2. The Deinstitutionalization of social services.
1.3. Social Services participated: the participation of citizens and technicians.

NOTE: along the classes efforts will be made-boosting competency training, with a view to professional performance in the organizational context. Themes: communication, teamwork, and assertiveness; recruitment and selection of staff; conflict management, organizational change, Total Quality, conducting meetings.
