Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit aims to provide the student with a set of theoretical and technical knowledge on inequalities, poverty and social exclusion, in order to enable him/her to analyse and critically interpret various contexts, situations and documents on the problematic under study.

  1. Inequalities, poverty and social exclusion: conceptual delimitation.
  2. Sociological theories of social classes and social stratification.
  3. Concepts, typologies and indicators for measuring and studying the phenomena of poverty and social exclusion.
  4. Poverty and social exclusion in Portugal, Europe and the World.
